Fresh vegetable juices and detox cures are prepared daily with the slow juicer, blended from over 100 ingredients from local farmers. With at least 85% raw vegetables and a focus on seasonal produce, Sapje delivers pure vitamin bombs in glass bottles to your home. Customers who choose Sapje, choose quality and health. The new web shop should reflect that level of expectation.
Sapje had a clear goal: the realization of a high-performance platform ready for the future. The existing shop contained a wealth of data and ongoing processes that could not be lost under any circumstances. The question was not just to build a new technical environment, but to do so without compromising speed, scalability or the complex customer data. How do you transfer a huge database and active subscription structure to a new environment while keeping the store simply “open”?
The biggest challenge in this project was the migration. More than 190,000 historical orders, countless product variations and all current, active subscriptions had to be transferred flawlessly. In addition, Sapje’s business model requires specific functionalities that standard platforms do not offer, such as composing boxes yourself and flexible subscription management. Because the design was provided by partner Adwise, our focus was entirely on the technology.
We chose a fully customized WooCommerce environment. To ensure speed and stability, the shop runs on a dedicated server with Redis caching. This makes pages load at lightning speed, even with complicated filters or large numbers of visitors. For logistics, we built a custom export functionality that sends orders directly to carrier LeenMenken. This way, the front end of the shop connects perfectly with the physical operation at the back end.
Working closely together, we worked on development in monthly sprints and weekly meetings. This ensured short lines of communication and a sharp focus. We developed various technical highlights to enrich the customer journey:
Central to the approach was the careful migration of over 190,000+ orders, blog pages and ingredient pages so that history and SEO value were preserved.
The result is a future-proof platform ready for the next phase of growth. The collaboration doesn’t stop here. By working with monthly sprints, we continuously optimize and expand the platform. For new features in the account section or further optimization of sales reports, the technology moves along with Sapje’s ambitions. The development process resulted in a technically fundamentally strong platform:
