Multisite set-up for one strong whole

This is how we created a future-proof platform for BrabantPartners

BrabantPartners shows what it means to live well in Brabant. They share stories about inspiring people, places and initiatives that contribute to good living, working and recreation in Brabant. Municipalities and entrepreneurs are connected through valuable encounters. What Good Living is, differs per person. Therefore Brabant Partners invites everyone to discover and share their own moments, for example through the international campaign. From a walk to a good conversation. It is precisely these moments that make Brabant special.

Question

BrabantPartners ran into some obvious challenges with its existing websites. The sites were outdated and no longer met modern requirements in terms of user-friendliness and the new corporate identity. As a result, visitors found it difficult to find the right information quickly and easily.

In addition, BrabantPartners was working with CMS systems that offered few possibilities for further development and were not user-friendly. Content was difficult to modify or add. This made the process inefficient and resulted in higher costs than necessary.

Challenge

BrabantPartners was looking for a new online marketing agency that does more than simply build a new website. They were looking for a committed partner who could strengthen BrabantPartners’ story online. The existing B2C-website was already there, but for the B2B-target group a platform was missing that had the same look and feel as the renewed branding. The challenge was to find the right balance between recognizability and professionalism, without losing its own identity.

In addition, they wanted an agency that is easily accessible and actively thinks along with them. While filling the website, we therefore held weekly meetings with both Brabant Partners and Brabant Bereikbaar. This way we could help directly with questions, solve problems quickly and implement feedback immediately. Via our own feedback tool, comments from the client could be implemented immediately. In short, short lines of communication everywhere.

Solution

BrabantPartners was looking for stable websites that would last for years to come. Managing the websites had to remain simple, which is why they chose WordPress as their content management system (CMS). New functionalities could be added quickly and further development remained affordable.

While building one of the websites, plans suddenly changed: Brabant Bereikbaar was undergoing a rebranding. We moved quickly and decided to completely replace the existing set-up with a new website, so that BrabantPartners and Brabant Bereikbaar were better aligned in terms of look and structure. This created a powerful whole instead of separate websites with a different look and feel.

Approach

We opted for a multisite setup, making expansion or launching new websites easy. For example, we are currently adding a new section for Brabant Partners, and are in the design phase of a new webshop for webshop.visitbrabant.com. In addition, we created copy for brabantgastvrij.nl. The next step in further strengthening the online BrabantPartners ecosystem.

Of course, all websites comply with the latest web standards: a solid foundation for security (authentication, authorization, protection against hacks and malware), optimal performance (speed and uptime) and a sustainable web architecture.

Approach

We developed a completely new UI-UX design for both websites, based on the ‘Good Life’ proposition of BrabantPartners. The focus was on usability, with an eye for accessibility and a mobile-first approach for an optimal experience on all devices.

Then we built an extensive search function, so visitors can quickly find relevant information. Finally, for e-mail communication, we integrated Spotler, automatically forwarding sign-up data to the appropriate system.
